Yes. A bright light source enables a really quick shutter speed (fast exposure) on your camera and this leads to great imaging. Conversely, if your light source is dim, your camera will need to a slow shutter speed (slow exposure) to enable enough light to come through. This will lead to a laggy, slow picture, and so poor imaging.
